Executive Function Coaching

Build organization, time management, planning, and focus through a personalized 18-hour coaching program — twelve 1-on-1 sessions designed around your student.

Lifelong Skills for Academic and Personal Success

Executive function is the set of mental skills students use to organize, plan, focus, and follow through — and they can be taught.

Our program begins with a minimum 18-hour foundation built from twelve 90-minute sessions covering every key area of executive functioning — organization, time management, planning, self-monitoring, and focus. The curriculum was developed in-house by Foley Prep from decades of work with New Jersey students, and it is entirely our own.

We deliver personalized care, so each student receives strategies and support tailored to how they learn — at school, at home, and beyond. For students who want to keep building, ongoing coaching sessions are available to reinforce these essential skills.

Why families choose this program
  • 1-on-1 coaching matched to each student
  • Curriculum built in-house over decades
  • In-person at 7 NJ centers or fully online
  • Ongoing support available after the foundation

Adapting to unexpected changes and shifting approaches when the first plan doesn't work.

How Coaching Works

We recommend beginning enrollment about three weeks before the first coaching session for the best results.

1
Meet Your Coach

About three weeks out, a complimentary 30-minute meet-and-greet gets your student acquainted with their coach and surfaces goals.

2
Settle on a Plan

Around two weeks out, the personalized plan is set and enrollment is complete — so your student can prepare for session one.

3
Sessions Begin

Twelve 90-minute coaching sessions build skills and strategies that last, with additional sessions available for continued support.

4
Review Progress

After the program, a follow-up consultation reviews progress and sets next steps for continued growth.

Common Questions About Executive Function Coaching

What is executive function coaching?
Executive function coaching builds the underlying skills students use to manage school and life — organization, time management, planning, self-monitoring, flexibility, and focus. We teach concrete, repeatable strategies tailored to each student rather than tutoring a single academic subject.
How long is the program?
The program begins with a minimum 18-hour foundation made up of twelve 90-minute 1-on-1 sessions covering all key areas of executive functioning. Students who want continued support can add ongoing coaching sessions to keep reinforcing these skills.
Is coaching 1-on-1, and is it in person or online?
Every session is 1-on-1 with a coach who specializes in executive function development. Coaching is available in person at our 7 New Jersey centers or fully online — whichever fits your family's schedule.
When should we start?
We recommend beginning the enrollment process about three weeks before the first coaching session. That allows time for a complimentary meet-and-greet with the coach, a personalized plan, and preparation before sessions begin.
Who develops the curriculum?
The curriculum was developed in-house by Foley Prep from decades of experience working with New Jersey students. It is entirely our own and tailored to local academic demands, with personalized strategies for each student.
Is coaching eligible for 529 education savings plans?
Yes! All Foley Prep services, including executive function coaching, are 529 plan eligible. We provide detailed receipts for easy reimbursement. Learn more on our 529 Plan page.
