The hardest part of school usually isn't the material.

A student can understand the chapter and still turn the essay in late, blank on a test they studied for, or lose an hour to an assignment that should take fifteen minutes. Re-teaching the chapter doesn't fix any of that.

The Foley Mentor Program

We pair a student — ideally in 8th grade or freshman year — with one of our top tutors, and then leave them together. The same mentor stays with that student through high school, so nobody spends September re-learning who they are.

That length is what makes the work different. A mentor who has watched a student through three Septembers knows which subjects they avoid, how they study when nobody is watching, and what a bad week looks like before the grades show it.

A Roadmap for Every Grade Level

From foundation building in 8th grade to college applications senior year, every year has a plan.

8th Grade — Foundation Building

Starting strong, we introduce students to the foundational skills necessary for high school success including goal setting, understanding learning styles, and beginning to explore academic and extracurricular interests.

9th Grade — Academic Exploration

Diving into high school life, students encounter deeper, more challenging academic content while developing study habits. We emphasize time management and beginning to think about their future academic path.

10th Grade — Skills Development

A critical year: we focus on advancing study techniques, test-taking strategies, and stress management, preparing students for the upcoming challenges of upper-level courses and standardized tests.

11th Grade — College Prep & Leadership

As college looms on the horizon, students engage in SAT/ACT prep, college essay writing workshops, and leadership opportunities to bolster applications. We also guide students through the college selection process.

In their final year, students focus on completing college applications, securing financial aid, and scholarships. We support the critical decision-making processes and transition to the independence of college life.

What is the Foley Mentor Program?
The Foley Mentor Program pairs a student with one of our top tutors for a years-long relationship — ideally beginning in 8th grade or freshman year. The mentor provides consistent academic coaching, personalized learning strategies, and support that evolves with the student through high school and into college.
When should my student start?
The earlier the better. We recommend starting in 8th grade or freshman year so the mentor can build a deep understanding of your student's learning style and lay strong foundations — but we welcome students at any grade level.
Is this just tutoring?
No. While academic instruction is included, holistic support goes further — developing time management, strategic planning, study habits, test-taking strategies, organization, and confidence so students succeed across all areas of school life.
Does the program help with college preparation?
Yes. Our grade-by-grade roadmap includes SAT/ACT prep, college essay workshops, leadership opportunities, the college selection process, applications, and financial aid guidance during the junior and senior years.
Is support available in person or online?
Both. Foley Prep offers in-person, online, and hybrid options across multiple New Jersey locations, with flexible evening and weekend hours to fit busy family schedules.
