Lauren grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to the east coast when she attended Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she earned a B.A. in Theater Performance. In 2011, she discovered her passion for teaching English, and she graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2013 with an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Lauren spent the final summer of her graduate studies teaching at El Centro Cultural Peruano-Americano in Trujillo, Peru, helping local students improve their English in preparation for college studies. Since graduating, she has done a great deal of private tutoring, consulting, and custom course design, and has taught ESL at many regional colleges and universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, University of Delaware, Camden County College, Atlantic Cape Community College, and Rowan University, where she is currently teaching in the English Language Program.
Lauren has also presented workshops and teaching methods at English language conferences including TESOL international, TESOL Spain, and El Salvador’s National Center for the Teaching of English. When she’s not teaching and correcting people’s grammar (ok, she’s always correcting people’s grammar), Lauren enjoys traveling, scuba diving, crafting, cooking, and playing kickball.
