Holmdel High School SAT canceled. WRHS all virtual today.

September 11, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Quick newsflashes:
- Watchung Hills Regional High School is all virtual today because of a water main break. Welcome to 2020. Remember, Foley Prep is starting our daytime programming next week for parents who want supervised learning (we watch over the kids as they do remote school 7:30am-1pm) and instructional learning (our army of tutors helps kids in the afternoons). We have this in place in our larger locations space-wise: Warren, Holmdel, Fair Haven, and Haddonfield.
- Holmdel High School canceled the September 26th SAT. More will follow. I still have a bad feeling about SATs and ACTs happening in New Jersey high schools (until after the election). The ACT folks are controlling the hotel sites, so they are more likely to run. My advice to seniors gunning to take the SAT is to find someplace in Pennsy, New York, West Virginia, WY, CO, etc. However, I do agree with the dean of admission and director of college counseling I mentioned in my last newsletter: seniors should only go out of their way to take the SAT or ACT at this point if a good test score is one of the 2 or 3 components that might make you shine in an application. If your portfolio is otherwise strong enough to get into your top choice schools, concentrate on the applications and see this cycle’s test optional as a gift.
- Good luck to all ACT-testers tomorrow. Fingers crossed it happens!
Now that my college classes are smoothly underway, I can get back to my heavy rotation with my college admissions kids. I have meetings with clients stacked high today and Sunday. Tomorrow, September 12th, Foley Prep is closed for our quarterly staff meeting and dinner.
Enjoy your weekend.
Best,
